Kanye does it again!

After reading all the reviews on Kanye West' film Runaway, I'm kinda sorta 'iffy' about them.
I mean, I'm a huge Kanye fan so maybe i'm biased but I know what art is, and that right there was art. If I could feel the way I felt when I first watched this film everyday, I'd be the most excited and inspired person alive.
People dont think the music fits with the movie but to me, they're just stupid.
Listen closly, the whole album is based off his Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, i.e runaway.
The music is amazing. The visuals were something James Cameron would love.
All in all, Runaway is greatness at its peak.

(Social media/Social change) wtf is it?

Today in class I spent some time exploring social media and social change.
I read an article online by Sarah Perez that gives examples on what social change is.
Social change is caused by media. Media outputs such as twitter and facebook give us the oppertunity to get our unheard voice-heard.
Social media can be used with almost everything lately.
The pope can tweet about his next visit to Canada.
The president of the U.S can talk about the economy.
Your aunt can tell people what sauce she used for that thanksgiving dinner that turned out delicious.
I can tell you about how much I like music.
In 2010, most of us use social media for irrelevant issues like a bad hair day.
With enough support(or followers), you can turn those posts into a social movement.
Social movement=social change.
Next time you status something, remind yourself that others are going to read this and have a thought or two.
If we all tweeted about something worthy to more than just the readers, we can save lives, build homes, find cures.
Instead of telling facebook that you hate taking bus rides with dirty looking poeople, think about why that person is dirty.
They could be homeless,unemployed etc,etc..
Who gives a shit if you dont like weird people: NO ONE.
Who gives a shit if you want people to donate $1 to your local shelter: A lot of people.
This blog post is an example of social change.
Instead of the usual entertainment post, I'm talking about how we could help out others.
That is what social change is.

Now that I got that out there, it's time to talk about something interesting that I discovered from that article that I mentioned above: posornot.com

Who knew you could use social media to shed light on HIV and getting tested?
The site offers two things: emotion and a game.
Check it out,
you might have fun figuring out if certain people are HIV positive or negative.
It shows you a picture of a person, and you have to guess if he or she is HIV positive or not.
If they arent, you feel good.
If they are, you fee bad.
That site moved me and made me think about my life.
^
There we go, another example of what social media can do.

All in all, social media and social change deals with any and everything.
If you dont like it then it sucks to be you because I believe it's only going to continue to grow!

And the next mayor of Toronto is...

Growing up as a young kid I never had enough attention to share with the whole mayoral debate.

Now that I'm 19 years old and old enough to vote, you know that attention I lacked- is back.

In the social scene(i.e Facebook), the mayor race is quiet..

I'm yet to see a facebook status about it, and thats 600 people that lack interest.
I bet most of my friends know what movies are coming out and when exactly, but if I asked them who Rob Ford is, they'll raise their eye brow.

Funny aint it?

At the age of 16-20, voting seems lame, boring and time wasting. However when we grow old I'm sure that will all change due to the fact that we'll realize "hey, wait a second, my vote actually matters..this stuff is important".

I also bet the same friends who know when and what movie is coming NOW, wont be able to tell you the last movie they saw when they are 25.

Think about it.

Anyways, this post isnt about how the social scene feels about voting. It's what I think.

Do I want to vote? Yes.

Will I? If I'm not lazy.

Regardless I still have something called "hope" and I hope that our next mayor will do the right things and not take Toronto down with them.

Coca Cola or Pepsi?!?

When it comes to Soda products, the obvious drink brands that POP to mind are Coke and Pepsi.
These two drinks are two seperate companies that have the same goal: to be the #1 Cola product.

My preferance for cola is Pepsi.

"Why Pepsi, Brandon?"

Is it the colorful logo?

The old classic Michael Jackson commercials?

The taste?

The brand war with Coke?

No.

The reason I go with Pepsi is simply because my mother.
Aha, yes my mom..
My mom loves Pepsi for her own reasons and that happens to be the only pop in the house so I settle with it.

Not to mention it tastes great.
However, the fact that I rarely drink Coke makes Coca Cola THAT much more enjoyable the next time I have it.
